The vision of DE-CIX is to provide premium IX services by offering friendly and courteous service at all times. DE-CIX believes that the established peering model is an essential part of today's Internet infrastructure and is here to stay.

Mission

DE-CIX’s mission is to ensure that the Internet runs smoothly by providing IX services to network operators. This goal is tackled on two different ways:

• Firstly, DE-CIX operates distributed platforms in order to enable its customers to exchange any kind of Internet traffic.
• Secondly, DE-CIX offers consultancy services to international third parties to build and run their own IXs.

For the former, DE-CIX runs distributed platforms to exchange any kind of Internet traffic on the highest possible service level. Although, the platforms are currently located in only three cities of Germany, a further expansion might be possible if needed. The currently largest platform –so-called DE-CIX – is distributed over Frankfurt and provides service at 11 data center facilities using four different locations that are equipped with switching technology. To maximize customer value of these exchange platforms the DE-CIX makes sure that these platforms are professionally managed. This means they are reliable, performant and scalable.

For the latter, DE-CIX provides its knowledge and experience in setting up and running an IX to international third parties who want to build their own IX. Especially, in emerging markets this kind of consultancy is of high value. DE-CIX will analyze market developments, especially in Eastern Europe, and may consider to extend its activities to new markets in order to maintain and develop its position in the global market.
