DE-CIX NGN
DE-CIX, the world’s largest Internet exchange in partnership with XConnect, the leader in Federation-based next generation interconnection and ENUM Registry services, launched DE-CIX NGN – a new hub based exchange service that resolves the complexities of NGN interconnection and interworking, allowing an easy transition from traditional PSTN network infrastructures to NGN IP services.
This new service is aimed at resolving the emerging challenges in the telecoms market, in particular the seamless, multilateral interconnection of different networks for Next Generation Network communications and Voice over IP (VoIP).
The migration to all-IP Next Generation and VoIP networks offers many benefits to network operators, enabling them to improve their competitive positioning through the reduction of costs while at the same time driving new revenues by offering new value added services, such as HD Voice, Video and Unified Communications (UC).
However, the complexities and costs of NGN interconnection have become a central concern for operators. Currently the traditional TDM-based interconnect infrastructure cannot support IP interconnection between networks, meaning the cost benefits of NGN are lost and new services are restricted to within the operator’s own network and customers.
The DE-CIX NGN service resolves these challenges by offering national and international network operators a secure hub for NGN interconnection, with benefits including:
- Multilateral NGN interconnection to multiple networks, by-passing the PSTN, and reducing the need to create and manage numerous commercially and technically onerous bilateral IP interconnects
- Improved Voice quality and support for higher-value multimedia services
- Number portability corrected routing via a Centralised Number Portabbility database (CDB) to ensure accurate call routing
- Reduction of capital and operating expenses, transit charges, and resource requirements for creating and managing interconnects, from interoperability testing to implementation

DE-CIX NGN PRICING
DE-CIX NGN pricing covers the connectivity and interconnection of calls across the DE-CIX NGN platform and is paid by the SP to DE-CIX. A minimum term of 12 months applies.
In the trial phase – expected to last until December 31st 2013 – DE-CIX will not charge any of the below mentioned charges to connected SPs. All fees will be determined in a discussion based on actual numbers (i.e. number of participants, monthly call volume etc.) over the course of Q2/Q3 2013.
DE-CIX NGN pricing consists of the following components and pricing:
