DE-CIX Madrid now offering access to the world’s largest interconnection ecosystem

Madrid, 19 August 2019. DE-CIX, the world’s leading Internet Exchange (IX) operator today announces the extension of its GlobePEER Remote Service to DE-CIX Madrid, the fastest growing IX globally. GlobePEER Remote not only offers direct access to DE-CIX in Frankfurt, but also opens the door to the world’s largest interconnection ecosystem with more than 1700 networks from over 100 countries. DE-CIX Madrid customers can use their existing access in the Spanish capital to peer remotely at other DE-CIX locations. So far, the DE-CIX platforms in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Dusseldorf, New York, Marseille, Palermo, and Istanbul are interconnected – adding Madrid as a next step, and making the DE-CIX digital universe the largest interconnection ecosystem globally.

DE-CIX operates Internet Exchanges in 18 metropolitan regions around the globe. The location in Frankfurt is home to the world's leading Internet Exchange, with a data throughput of more than 6.8 terabits per second (Tbps) at peak times. Since its opening in 2016, DE-CIX Madrid has become the fastest growing Internet Exchange in terms of customers, with more than 150 networks connected. During the last year, it has doubled its peak traffic to more than 340 Gbps.

Launched initially between Frankfurt and New York, the GlobePEER Remote Service was then progressively expanded to include further locations, resulting in accelerating growth for the service and a fourfold increase in customer demand in the past year.
