On 4 July 2018, we successfully moved one of the four cores nodes in Frankfurt from DE-CIX FRA7 (Kleyer 82) to DE-CIX FRA 12 (Kleyer 90). DE-CIX 12 is the replacement of DE-CIX 7, the former core node at DE-CIX’s largest site in the city, the Kleyer campus.
The move was planned by the project team over several weeks and was carried out on 4 July from 2 a.m. to 5 p.m. (15 hours in total).
The core migration was essential for DE-CIX and could have had fatal consequences for our customers if something had gone wrong during the process. However, thanks to the outstanding work of our project team, the migration progressed smoothly and without any impact on our customers.
We would like to say a big thank you to our colleagues, who have worked hard in recent weeks at the drawing board and in the data center for the core migration: Annette Wilderotter (NetOps Engineer), Kay Schroeder (Senior Network Engineer), Nikolas Brodermann (Customer Service Engineer), Robert Finze (NetOps Engineer), and Uwe Gallschneider (Network Engineer).
