Blackholing Advanced now available at additional exchanges

Announced last year, our Blackholing Advanced service revolutionizes the defence against Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks directly at Internet Exchanges by using individual fine-grained filtering mechanisms.

In addition to DE-CIX Frankfurt, the service is now available in a beta version for all DE-CIX customers in Dallas, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Istanbul, Lisbon, Madrid, Marseille, Munich, New York, and Palermo.

Developed together with customers

In times of increasing DDoS attacks, security is an ongoing focus for both our customers and ourselves, and the product requirements for the service were developed in a community workshop. Now, with further direct feedback from our customers, we will bring the service to final market maturity via the beta version.

Activate the service in the customer portal

The Blackholing Advanced mechanism allows you to shape the traffic routed to the blackholed prefix. Thus, you are able to inspect a portion of the traffic in order to initiate appropriate countermeasures – while still protecting your infrastructure from congestion. This visibility enables you to announce and withdraw Blackholing routes in a more efficient way, optimizing your response to the DDoS attack.

The feature is not activated by default. If you want to use the Blackholing Advanced feature, please activate the service in the DE-CIX customer portal.
