Customers at DE-CIX Jakarta need to renumber
As DE-CIX Jakarta continues to grow, we are transitioning to a new IPv4 network to ensure sufficient address space for future expansion. Our current peering LAN in Jakarta uses a /25 network which is running out of IPv4 addresses. Therefore, we have acquired a new /23 IPv4 network, containing over more IPv4 addresses for customer routers.
As part of this change, all customers will need to renumber their router’s IPv4 interface connected to the Jakarta peering LAN and update their BGP peering sessions.
Renumbering to take place in September
The renumbering will be carried out over three days, from 23 to 25 September 2025. Affected customers will receive detailed instructions and support directly via email. If you have any questions, our Customer Service team is happy to assist. This kind of renumbering has already been successfully implemented at other DE-CIX locations, including Munich, Hamburg, and Madrid.
FAQs on Jakarta renumbering
Why do we have to renumber?
The current IPv4 peering LAN (/25) offers 126 usable addresses, with each DE-CIX Jakarta member assigned one. As available IPs run low, expanding the network will ensure smooth onboarding for new customers.
When will the change happen?
Change window: Tuesday 23 to Thursday 25 September 2025. Exact maintenance times will be communicated closer to the date.
What happens if I miss the deadline?
You will lose IPv4 peering at DE-CIX Jakarta until you update your configuration to the new IP address and netmask.
Can I change before the official window?
Yes, but you won’t be able to peer with other customers who have not yet switched. Early changes will leave you temporarily without IPv4 peering.
Do I need to notify DE-CIX when I’m done?
Not required, but recommended to confirm and avoid misunderstandings.
Do I need to change IPv6?
No. IPv6 addressing remains unchanged.
