First AWS Cloud On-Ramp in Turkey and new traffic peak in Istanbul

This year, DE-CIX Istanbul celebrates its tenth anniversary. As the central Internet hub in the region, it plays an important role in digital connectivity between Europe and the Middle East. With the first Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud On-Ramp in the region, DE-CIX Istanbul is taking another step toward modern cloud integration.

Local AWS cloud integration

AWS’s new Direct Connect location in Istanbul ensures lower latency for users in the region. It provides the shortest route to AWS resources while reducing the costs of network expansion and operation. DE-CIX’s DirectCLOUD service allows you to connect your existing network infrastructure with AWS, bypassing the Internet. The benefits of a private DirectCLOUD connection include predictable latency, better control of data paths, and guaranteed bandwidth.

New traffic record

The growth of the data hub is also reflected in the volume of data processed. On the evening of 30 July, the DE-CIX Istanbul reached a new peak in data traffic: over 500 Gbit/s – three times the volume of 2020. As an interconnection and peering hub, the Internet Exchange provides access to data centers throughout Turkey, including Istanbul, Bursa, İzmir, and Ankara.
