Enabling 400 GE Access

We have successfully completed of a major infrastructure upgrade at DE-CIX Dallas, the largest carrier and data center-neutral Internet Exchange in Texas. This upgrade introduces 400 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) access ports, significantly expands the 100 GE options available, and makes the platform 800 GE-ready.

The upgrade includes the rollout of 100 GE LR technology, which offers customers a more cost-effective and energy-efficient alternative to traditional LR4 optics. With a potential transceiver cost reduction of over 40%, this innovation improves customer access while reducing hardware expenses.

Backbone upgrade

Additionally, we have upgraded the North American backbone with 400 GE wavelength technology, strengthening connectivity between the Internet Exchanges in Dallas, New York, Chicago, Seattle, Phoenix, Richmond, and Houston – as well as the recently launched DE-CIX Mexico.

With over 140 networks connected and a peak traffic of over 1.5 Tbit/s, DE-CIX Dallas continues to expand its reach across Texas and beyond, now offering enhanced connectivity through partnerships in Houston and San Antonio, as well as direct access to Mexico City and Queretaro.
