Ooredoo and DE-CIX launch Doha IX: Qatar’s first commercial Internet Exchange goes live

Doha

Ooredoo, Qatar’s leading telecommunications operator, has announced the launch of Doha-IX, the country’s first commercial Internet Exchange, in partnership with DE-CIX. Now live and ready for service, Doha IX is hosted in Ooredoo’s cutting-edge data center and has already connected its first networks.

Seamless interconnection for global and regional networks

Doha IX is designed to transform Qatar’s digital landscape by enabling secure, low-latency interconnection between hyperscalers, cloud providers, ISPs, and content networks. The platform offers a data center-neutral environment, allowing customers to access global content and services through a single port, while seamlessly integrating into the DE-CIX global ecosystem.

One of the key features of Doha IX is direct access to premium services like Microsoft Azure Peering Service (MAPS), providing government and enterprise customers with private, high-performance connectivity to Microsoft SaaS applications such as Teams and Outlook.

The new IX also complements Ooredoo’s suite of enterprise services — including IP Transit, Multi-Cloud Connect, Hosting, Co-location, and International Connectivity — supporting faster content delivery and accelerating digital transformation across Qata
