Recap: Atlantic Convergence 2025 in Lisbon

From October 28 to 30, Lisbon welcomed the Atlantic Convergence community for its second edition. Over 600 participants from 58 countries joined us for three days of engaging discussions and meaningful connections. Building on last year’s momentum, the event offered plenty of opportunities to exchange ideas and explore new perspectives. A big thank you to everyone who took part and to the 55 speakers who shared their insights around this year’s theme: Navigating Digital Changes, Empowering Transformation.

Connecting Continents Through Infrastructure and Innovation

Atlantic Convergence brings together voices from across Africa, Europe, and the Americas to explore what’s next for digital infrastructure. This year’s event focused on how the Atlantic is becoming a strategic digital corridor, connecting continents through innovation, data, and shared ambition. Portugal and the Iberian Peninsula stood out as key entry points for Europe’s connectivity, with Lisbon playing an increasingly important role as a digital hub.

Brazil was also featured prominently, with DE-CIX’S recent expansion to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The country’s vibrant network ecosystem positions it as a growing digital powerhouse within the Atlantic region.

A Collaborative Effort Across the Ecosystem

The event was brought to life again this year by DE-CIX, together with partners AtlasEdge, CAMTEL, EllaLink, Interfiber Networks, and Meo Wholesale Solutions. Each brings something unique to the table: From edge platforms and submarine cables to national telecom services. Together, they help shape the Atlantic’s fast-growing digital ecosystem.

Insights That Shaped the Dialogue

This year’s program offered a wide mix of topics. From geopolitics and digital strategy to enterprise transformation, inclusion, infrastructure, and sustainability. The sessions were packed with useful insights and fresh perspectives, giving attendees plenty to think about when it comes to the future of connectivity.

A highlight of the agenda was the keynote by DE-CIX CEO Ivo Ivanov: “AI for Everything, Everyone, and Everywhere.” He explored how artificial intelligence is reshaping critical industries like the healthcare sector, and the infrastructure needed to support this evolution. Through AI-IX functionality, which seamlessly interconnects the digital infrastructure for high performance AI training and inference, DE-CIX offers secure, low-latency, and resilient interconnection to support scalable AI deployment.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Atlantic Convergence is heading back to Lisbon next year, from September 29 to October 1, 2026, and we’re looking forward to welcoming you again. Registrations are already open, so feel free to reserve your spot early. It’s a great opportunity to (re)connect, exchange ideas, and help shape the future of digital infrastructure across the Atlantic region.
