Enhancing the Western African Internet Community: DE-CIX signs Memorandum of Understanding with Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria

Frankfurt am Main, 18 February 2020: The world’s leading Internet Exchange (IX) operator DE-CIX and the largest IX on the West Coast of Africa IXPN (Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to kick-off their new partnership.

As a first step, DE-CIX will take the lead in educating local African networks, Internet service providers and content service providers about the benefits of peering and further interconnection services. DE-CIX will make use of its own DE-CIX Academy and its experts, providing valuable information for peering in practice. The academy consists of a sizable library of white papers, as well as webinars that viewers can participate in live or watch as recordings later. The topics include information on Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), peering and blackholing, technical guidelines for connecting to a range of cloud service providers, and market studies on the global telecommunication landscape.

The next steps of the partnership will be announced in due course.
