DE-CIX sponsors broadband measurement in Germany

The broadband measurement tool (Breitbandmessung) of the Bundesnetzagentur, the German Federal Network Agency, is now connected directly to the DE-CIX platform. DE-CIX sponsors the offer with two 100GE access ports and GlobePEER service in Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, and Munich thus creating even better measurement options.

Developed by zafaco GmbH on behalf of the Bundesnetzagentur, the tool increases the transparent requirements of broadband measurement and is open to all Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Through the connection to DE-CIX, broadband providers need to establish a bilateral peering session between their network and the autonomous system (AS) of the broadband measurement to make sure their customers can generate valid and strong measurement results.

ISPs need to set-up bilateral peering session

As zafaco is not using the DE-CIX route servers, it is important for German ISPs to set up bilateral peering sessions with the broadband measurement (zafaco, ASN211319) to benefit from having zafaco connected to DE-CIX. You can reach out to them directly at peering@breitbandmessung.de.
