Meeting the challenges of multimedia networks with seamless connectivity

Switzerland’s multimedia network operators face a complex landscape, balancing geographically dispersed users with the need for a reliable and stable communications infrastructure. To meet these challenges, eleven network providers in French-speaking Switzerland have united under netplus.ch SA, delivering over 460,000 network services daily.

Given Switzerland’s position at the heart of Europe, a significant amount of cross-border data exchange is required. More than 20% of this data flows through DE-CIX Frankfurt, ensuring seamless communication with providers not present in Switzerland. To maintain secure and low-latency data routing, netplus.ch SA has partnered with IP-Max to leverage DE-CIX’s direct peering solution GlobePEER for improved performance and reliability.

The role of partners in seamless connectivity

As a trusted Internet Service Provider, IP-Max has been instrumental in netplus.ch SA’s success. When peering at Frankfurt became a necessity over ten years ago, IP-Max’s reputation for reliability and expertise made it the ideal partner. Several netplus.ch SA shareholders were already using IP-Max’s services, reinforcing their decision to move forward with a strategic collaboration.

Through IP-Max’s dedicated connection to DE-CIX Frankfurt, netplus.ch SA started to utilize 10 Gbps GlobePEER service, providing direct access to over 1,000 regional, national, and international networks. This eliminated the need for individual peering agreements and streamlines network operations.

Our focus is on network resiliency and continuity. Peering at DE-CIX in Frankfurt opens the door to the world. Today, we actively peer with more than 100 networks, including Apple, Google, and Amazon.”

Scaling up for the future

The surge in streaming demand has driven unprecedented bandwidth requirements. With general operating system updates and the transition from satellite to terrestrial TV transmission, netplus.ch SA has expanded its peering capacity at Frankfurt from 10 Gbps to 30 Gbps, with further options under consideration.

The partnership with IP-Max has provided netplus.ch SA with the flexibility to scale its network as needed, ensuring consistent quality, performance, and reliability. By leveraging direct peering at DE-CIX Frankfurt, netplus.ch SA ensures high-performance connectivity for its customers and keeps pace with ever-growing data demands.
